This oil painting on canvas depicts the account of the first recorded miracle of Jesus when he turned water into wine. Wedding guests in that culture would stay for days. The groom's family would host the event, and bear the responsibility of caring for all the guests. The groom can be seen hanging his head in humiliation over the depleted wine while the miracle takes place behind him.
Jesus instructed the servants to go fill the large pitchers with water, pitchers normally used by the slaves for washing the feet of the guests. The servants obeyed Him and brought the liquid to the headwaiter. Instead of containing water, the pitchers were filled with wine of such a high quality, that it was determined to be better than the wine that had been served at first.
The bride and her father are seen gasping as they watch the miracle revealed. While all the other cups at the table are empty, Mary looks at a spilled cup of wine in front of Jesus, pondering this as she did all the things that were spoken of Him when He was young.
The 4 and5/8" wide frame has a scoop ribbed design, medium antique gold finish with a heavily embossed edge leaf pattern.
